Understanding Metabolic Syndrome

If you’ve been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome or are worried about your risk, I understand how overwhelming it can feel. You have been told by the GP that your condition can be improved and prevented through diet and lifestyle changes, but where should you start?

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of at least three specific health conditions that significantly increase your risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. These conditions include abdominal obesity, high fasting blood glucose levels, elevated blood pressure, high triglyceride levels, and an increased risk of insulin resistance. While these factors are serious, they are manageable through diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications.

A Holistic Approach to Management

I know that facing these challenges can be daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. I can help you to understand the best approach for your unique situation.

Addressing metabolic syndrome typically involves strategies such as increased physical activity, weight management, and comprehensive changes in diet and lifestyle. When we work together, we go at your pace, recognizing that everyone responds differently to change.

Our focus is on identifying the areas where you need support, guidance, and encouragement.

Our mission is to help you understand the necessary changes to implement sustainable, long-term solutions that enhances your health and well-being and helps you to be the CEO of your own health!

Many of my clients come to me seeking to avoid or reduce reliance on medications by making essential diet and lifestyle adaptations that can significantly improve their health outcomes. To guarantee your safety, I work alongside GP’s, diabetic nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The Link Between Eating Disorders and Metabolic Syndrome

If you struggle with disordered eating patterns, such as binge eating or bulimia, you may be at a higher risk for developing components of metabolic syndrome, including insulin resistance, obesity, and pre-diabetes. And yes, bulimia will eventually lead to substantial weight gain!

For many years I lived in fear of developing health complications due to my disordered eating pattern. Understanding the impact of food and eating on my personal health, my body, my emotional state and my cognitive abilities,  was one of the greatest tools in my recovery.

I’m here to help you take proactive steps to protect and improve your health. The sooner we start this journey, the better your outcomes will be, leading to a healthier, more vibrant future. Get in touch to find out more.
